Markovna Kunis, or Mila as she's more often known, has starred
in a number of TV shows and movies, and while she concludes
that she will work on her acting career in the future, she
has also done her fair share of modeling.
A jack of all trades, perhaps? It's very possible, despite
the fact that it has almost worked the other way around for
Mila.
For the most part, models rise to fame and often try their
hand at acting, with the results usually quite laughable.
In Mila's case however, it was the other way around...
Born on August 18, 1983 in Kiev, Ukraine, Mila moved with
her family to America when she was seven years old.
Arriving in Little Odessa West (California) and not knowing
a word of English would be quite scary, but before long Mila
was speaking the language with ease and two years later at
age nine, she enrolled in acting classes at the Beverly Hills
Studio.
Her
manager at the Beverly Hills Studio was quick to see how talented
Mila was, and after spending time with a dialect coach to
drop her Russian accent - though she still speaks Russian
fluently - Kunis' career took off.
She started off by working in commercials, but before long
she was getting parts on televsion and even in movies.
She recounts that she would have worked more, but with schooling
and what not, many industry types found her schedule hard
to work with.
At the age of just 14, Paul Maricano (one of the high-ups
at Guess?) saw Mila and instantly offered her some work.
In November 1997, she was part of the Guess? Girls campaign
which was aimed at a younger demographic.
Photographed by Dominick Guillemot, she recounts that the
shoot was great fun, though not something she'd anticipate
doing for a long time. Having been in a few shoots myself,
I don't blame her ;)
Later in 1998, when she was still just 14, Mila Kunis landed
the role of Jackie in the popular "That '70s Show"
sit-com, probably her most well-known appearance. She also
won the lead role in the 2002 movie American Psycho II:
All American Girl, and had a supporting role in the 2001
teen comedy Get Over It .
However, it wasn't until the comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall did Kunis' stunning looks really shoot her into the cinematic big leagues.
While she followed the Jason Segal comedy up with forgettable flicks Max Payne and The Book of Eli - Kunis took the leap into Oscar territory with a stunning and sexually charged performance in Black Swan.
Yes - it featured "that" girl-on-girl scene which recieved so much publicity!
With an already impressive resume, spanning modeling, TV
and cinema, Mila Kunis cites Jodie Foster as one of her role
models - a good thing in our book.
Like Foster, Kunis wants to act and perhaps win an oscar,
but she also wants to produce movies and work behind the scenes.
With her fiesty attitude and already impressive acting talents,
there's a very good chance she'll one day be able to fulfil
her dreams.Mila Kunis - Photo Gallery
