She has, without question, the most amazing eyeballs that the world
has ever seen. Sure we've come across some beauties in our time here at
the Fashion Channel - but no one has ever come close to the jewels that
exist inside the head of Olivia Wilde.
Born Olivia Jane Cockburn
in March of 1984, this half American / half Irish stunner has gone from
model to certified cinematic superstar in under a decade - even
deriving her stage name "Wilde" from Irish author Oscar Wilde.
The
daughter of 60 Minutes Producer and Presenter Leslie Cockburn (née
Redlich), and sister of civil rights attorney Chloe Cockburn, Wilde has
said on several occasions that as a result of her family background,
she has a "strong journalistic streak", being "really critical and
analytical".
This has served her well into her acting carreer
which began at the tender age of two. She attended The Gaiety
School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland for a short time before moving into
the big time.
She's appeared in several films, but it was her
break out performance on the hit 2000s teen series The OC (she
originally auditioned for the role of Marissa Cooper) which brought
Wilde to the attention of Hollywood folks.
She has since
appeared in films such as The Girl Next Door, Alpha Dog, Conversations
with Other Women and the little seen slasher film Turistas. Since then
she has appeared in a string of blockbusters Year One, Disney's Tron:
Legacy (which she was quoted as saying she freaked out the first time
she saw her costume for the movie saying "I saw the boobs on the suit
and I said, 'Oh hell no. I'm doing kicks and backflips in this
thing?'") and Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens.
Although, lets
face it, we don't watch her in movies for her acting ability - she is
there as eye candy. Proof of this comes in the form of Wilde being
ranked No.1 on Maxim magazine's Hot 100, and ranked No.95 on the FHM
100 Sexiest Women of 2006.
Wilde has has cited her sexy appeal
comes from her inspriations in Meryl Streep, Sigourney Weaver, Frances
McDormand, Catherine Keener and Robin Wright Penn as acting
inspirations.
She married Italian-American documentary
filmmaker, flamenco guitar player, and son of an Italian prince, Tao
Ruspoli, on June 7, 2003, in Washington, Virginia, on a school bus with
only a pair of witnesses, when she was 19 years old.
She later
said the marriage occurred in an abandoned school bus; it was the only
place they could be completely alone, as the marriage was a secret at
the time. However, on February 8, 2011, she and her husband announced
that they were separating citing "irreconcilable differences."
So
she's a free agent lads! And what can be sexier than stunning eyes,
single and vegan? Well Wilde is also a board member of Artists for
Peace and Justice, which provides education and health services in
Haiti, and the ACLU of Southern California and was commended by the
Coalition of Immokalee Workers, an unorthodox farmworkers' union, for
supporting the Fair Foods campaign.
Her career is about to explode - be sure you catch a glimpse!
