Julie Ordon
By Ines Mendoza
Very
few can argue that the Swiss aren't a people of efficiency. When a
country's only claim to fame is either that your watches are always
running on time, your pocket knives have over twelve uses or that you
refuse to choose which side to fight for during a war, your
reputation as a world powerhouse looks relatively grim.
Thankfully, there is one national symbol keeping the respectability of
Switzerland afloat, the insanely glamorous Julie Ordon - who, like the
Swiss Army Knife, also has numerous talents. Gracing the world
with her presence July 27, 1984 - Julie was born into a family
including three sisters Laïla, Valérie,
and Joëlle, who all grew up in Geneva. Whether they also
possess the natural beauty of Julie, I'm not sure, but
regardless, the idea of four Swiss sisters in the same room is
enough to drive any hot blooded human to froth from the mouth. This
brown-haired, blue-eyed beauty, surprisingly, made it big in the fashion
industry despite the obvious setback of being, in the modeling
world, a tad short. Or as my dad would often call me in the
little Spanish I know, pequeña muchacha. Standing
170cm or 5'7" tall, this petite beauty has appeared in her fair share
of magazines including the covers of Elle, Glamor and Cosmo magazine.
Recently she even made her way into the bustling, celebrity-mad world
of film. First appearing in the 2002 film Novela, Ordon kept busy over the next few years also appearing in 2004's Point and Shoot as well as taking on the lead role in director Gilles Bourdos' 2003 film Inquiétudes or
"A Sight for Sore Eyes" as it was called in its US release. It was
this burgeoning foray into film world in which Julie gained more than
just a nifty array of acting credentials. Thanks to her status as
one of the new faces of Victoria's Secret, Julie has notched up quite a
nice little number of Hollywood hunks to her diamond-encrusted Gucci
belt. Starting off small with Blade bad
boy Stephen Dorff, Julie more recently has been seen with the man with
a body to die for (I'm not kidding, I'm willing to take a bullet in
order to touch those rock hard abs) Mark "Marky Mark and the Funky
bunch" Whalberg. There
were also reports that she has been spending
time with Puerto Rican film star Benicio Del Toro (or Benicio
Monserrate Rafael Del Toro Sanchez to give his full name), but these
rumours cannot be
substantiated by our marsupial spies. Not too bad for the wide-mouthed, pensive, and
somewhat baby-faced model who is only just into her 20s. By
the time I was in my early 20s, my biggest claim to fame was meeting
Toadfish from "Neighbours" at the local Shopping Centre. Sure,
what he lacked in stomach muscles he made up for in an abnormally long
mullet - but it just isn't the same as dating Boogie Nights' Dirk Diggler, is it? Julie Ordon has appeared in ads for L'Oreal, DeBeers and numerous other products,
particularly those popular throughout Europe. She continues to climb the
rungs of the industry having recently been signed to several
international modeling agencies including Traffic (Madrid), Ricardo Gay
(Milan), Karin (Paris), Storm (London) and the always impressive
Madison Models (NY). So next time you decide to ski the slopes of
the Swiss Alps and you crave the sweet sound of a yodeling blonde at
the top of an alpine mountain, keep in mind that Switzerland has a lot
more to offer than a bunch of stereotypes if Julie Ordon is anything to
go by.
