Eva
Padberg By Ines Mendoza

| Many
say the best thing to come out of
Germany was chocolate. Others say it the modern motor car. A select few
felt the Wankel engine was a tribute to great engineering too. But
above and beyond all of these material
things, there is a definitive asset which Germany has in abundance.
Gorgeous women. And the best? Well it's purely a
personal choice, and as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
but after a quick whip around the Web Wombat offices,
it seems abundantly clear that there was only one gal for us. Nope, not
Heidi Klum, but her potential
successor - Eva
Padberg. In
Germany, Eva Padberg is one of the country's hottest celebrities,
having recorded music, appeared on numerous TV shows and has been voted
as one of the sexiest woman by her countrymen and
women. She's
not quite as well known (or revered) elsewhere in the world as she is
in Germany, but that's all set to change with this article - we're
lifting the lid on the P-Berg as we like to call her, and it's only a
matter of time before she takes her rightful place as one of the
world's most successful top models. The
P-Berg story begins on January the 27th in 1980 (a vintage
year which gave us movies such as
Superman
II and Airplane!),
when Eva was born. She grew up in the small German village of Rottleben
and as a youth is said to have always had her eye on success.
Some
people have the drive and determination to be the best they can, and
some are just utterly gorgeous - and Eva Padberg is both! After
a relatively quiet childhood, Eva hit her stride in 1995 at the age of
15 when she
first applied to be part of a magazine competition. And it's no
surprise that she ended up in the final round - eventually catching the
eye of a modeling agent from Munich. It was
here that Eva signed her
first contract with Louisa Models. Over the next few
years,
Eva Padberg's career went from strength to strength (pretty impressive
when
you consider that she was still attending school until 1998). In fact,
between 1995 and 1999, Eva Padberg travelled across the globe from
Tokyo to Paris, and Milan to New York, where she worked for clients
such as
Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Carolina Herrera. Indeed, the P-Berg was
winning the hearts of fashion labels left, right, and centre. Throughout
the early part of the third millennium, she was named the face of
Palmers
Lingerie and defied stereotypes by showing a versatility that scored
her much television work, and she also created some interesting music
with her partner. Indeed,
in 2003 Eva decided to mix business with pleasure when she joined
forces with her boyfriend, Niklas Worgt, to record an album. 'Dirty
White' wasn't a smash hit, but neither was it a complete pile of
steaming horse shit. Her boyfriend composed the music which was of
theambient techno mould, and Eva provided equally minimalist
vocals. The
leggy German model appeared on several TV shows throughout Germany,
such as the popular "Die Harald Schmidt Show" (which many claim to be
the
"German David Letterman"). She's also made appearances on "TV Total"
and
"Star Search", even getting a role as a presenter on the RTL Network
during the 2006 World Cup. Not bad for a
girl from a small German village! For
most, the achievements of Eva would be considered more than enough for
one career, however, it just seems she is going from strength to
strength. The glossy mags took to Eva with gusto and she has been
featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire,
Face, Madame, and of course Elle. She even appeared in
Playboy, but she didn't drop her standards (or her duds). In
2006, she was named the "Sexiest Woman of the
Year" by German FHM Magazine readers, suggesting the lads find her very
appealing to the eye. More recently she joined the
likes of Giselle Bundchen,
Karolina Kurkova and Heidi Klum
as the Cover Girl of the OTTO catalogue (as seen below), and in May
2007 was hired by famous German auto company Mercedes-Benz to be its
officialFashion Ambassador. That's got to be worth a free car and a
fist-full of cash! She also snagged a
minor role as handmaiden in the new 2007 medieval flick In the Name of the King: A
Dungeon Siege Tale.
Based on a popular PC videogame license, Eva will probably get to rub
shoulders with its stars, including Ray Liotta, Jason
Statham, John Rhys Davies, and Leelee Sobieski. We
wish Eva
the best of luck in her new Hollywood feature film, and here's hoping
the stunning German model releases a new album - perhaps even under the
most-excellent moniker of P-Berg!
