Hayden
Panettiere By Ines Mendoza

| If
there's one thing nerdy fanboys love
more than a sexy girl with supernatural super powers, it's a sexy girl
with supernatural powers that runs around in a cheerleaders uniform. So
luckily for them there is one such Hollywood hottie who
seems to fit that ever so specific criteria. Ladies and gentlemen...and
nerdy fanboys...I give you Hayden Panettiere. The Cheerleader.
Hayden
Leslie Panettiere, the petite blonde who shot to fame on the hit series
"Heroes", was born August 21, 1989 (yep, she's a young'un). At the
meagre age of just 11 months old, she began appearing in commercials --
her first appearance was a promotion for a Toy Train. A
few teething
years later, Hayden hit the big time, landing a part of the soap opera
"One Life To Live".
Much like our Aussie soaps, it
seemed that
for Hayden soap could take over her life, and she next landed
a role
in the soap "Guiding Light" on another network (Aussies may remember
the numerous cast crossovers from "Neighbours" to "Home &
Away") at
the tender age of eight. And much like our very own Kate Ritchie,
Hayden stayed with the show for several years, eventually moving on in
late 2001.
Thankfully, this delightfully chirpy
blonde wasn't
stuck in the typecast hell of syndicated television for too long. In
fact, she has popped up in several big films since her career began,
chalking up quite an impressive CV. From the Disney hit A Bug's Life
(which led to a bizarre nomination for a Grammy in 1999 for Best
Spoken Word Album for Children for "A Bug's Life Read-Along") to the
Denzel Washington tear jerker Remember The Titans,
and even a turn in
the forgettable Tim Allen helmed Joe Somebody.
Several
more
TV credits were then strapped to the rising star's name, including
recurring roles in the TV favourites Ally McBeal, Law & Oder: SVU
and Malcom In
The Middle. But despite TV
success, Hayden kept chipping
away at the Hollywood big-screen, starring in the smash hit kids
flick Racing
Stripes and (in what would be an ironic precursor to here
role
on "Heroes") a sequel to the Kirsten Dunst hit entitled Bring It On:
All or Nothing.
All of this, of course,
let into the surprise role of The Cheerleader (remember
everyone "SAVE THE CHEERLEADER,
SAVE THE WORLD") which has taken this pint size pretty into the
Hollywood big league. Neutrogena made her the cover girl for their new
worldwide ad campaign, while FHM named Panettiere as the 6th Sexiest
Woman in the world and the highest new entry of the year (June 2007).
But
where to now? It has been reported that Panettiere is currently working
on her debut album (who isn't these days..!), which was originally
planned for release on May 8, 2007. The album however, was pushed back
(for reasons yet to be explained, but could be due to her heroic super
powers) and is now expected to be released
in August 2007 from Hollywood Records.
From whatever
angle you
look at it Hayden Panettiere is the quintessential Hollywood kid. Child
Actor, Grammy Nominated singer, Sex Symbol (even I'll admit she looks
damn spunky in that cheerleader outfit) and of course - the face of a
multi national cosmetics company. All we
need to do now is wait
for the inevitable drug bust and bankruptcy before the age of
27 and
you've got yourself yet another classic Hollywood tale!
