Tatiana Patitz
By SARA TEMPLETON
Tatiana
Patitz is one of the fashion scenes everlasting faces. She
was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1966, so this makes the German
beauty, well, about 35 years old.
Tatiana was born in Germany, but raised in Sweden and decided
to head down the path of modeling at age 17. While there is
a glut of teenage models starting to make an impact with all
the major players, Tatiana is one of the veterans.
Anyway, in 1983 Tatiana started selling her skills to various
photographers and so forth and at this stage in the early
80s, she was accepted with open arms into the sometimes tough,
often catty, fashion industry.
The German model is about 180cm tall, has blue eyes and blonde
hair. Despite her text-book looks, there's something about
Tatiana that seems to mesmerise everyone who sees her.
At first, she started getting work primarily on the catwalks
- but back then you couldn't just star in a modeling TV show
then Bob's yer Uncle - career-o-matic. Instead, Tatiana had
to do it the hard way. But succeed she did.
She continued to conquer the world's fashion capitals one-by-one
- Paris, Milan then New York and when things couldn't get
any better, she started working closely with many big-name
designers. She has worked with industry stalwarts such as
Donna Karan, Anne Klein, Chanel, Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier,
John Galliano, Prada and even Armani. As you can see, Tatiana
was much-loved in the late 80s to early 90s in the fashion
industry.
Things
just seemed to click into place for the German-born Swede
and, before long, she was signing campaigns with big-name
brands, left, right and centre.
She has been the focus in advertisements by Donna Karan,
Jil Sander, Pantene and many more. She has even appeared on
the cover of magazines such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar,
Marie-Claire, Elle and others many times over.
She wanted to do a bit of acting too, and landed parts in
George Michael's Freedom video clip, the film Rising
Sun and she even appeared in an episode of US sit-com,
The Single Guy.
The list of photographers Tatiana Patitz has worked with
is equally as impressive as her list of designer credits.
These photographers have more clout in the industry than you'd
think and working with them showed others that Tatiana was
here to stay. She's been photographed by the likes of Patrick
Demarchelier, Herb Ritts, the talented Peter Lindbergh (in
his book 10 Women)and Steven Meisel.
Today, Tatiana lives in the States, namely California. The
reasons behind moving from Paris to California revolve around
her passion to break into Hollywood (not literally) and become
an accomplished actor.
It is much more likely that Tatiana will tone down her modeling
responsibilities and instead focus more on acting. As well
as working hard on her acting skills, Tatiana is heavily involved
in environmental causes and belongs to organisations like
Cousteau Society, Greenpeace and Earth Island.
