When it comes to fashion, when it comes to models, the world doesn't often think of Australians.
Sure we have a few hotties doing the rounds - Miranda Kerr, Elle McPherson - but how many "stunning traditional catwalk models" do we actually have that aren't strutting around in bathers?
Well all that is about to change if Aussie youngster Samantha Harris has anything to do with it.
Born
20 July 1990 (doesn't that make you feel so old!) in Tweed Heads, New
South Wales this Australian fashion model born to Aboriginal mother and
German-English father is setting catwalks alight with her incredible
dark eyes, strong brow, and lucious pillowy lips.
Modeling since
she was just thriteeen (in 2004 she entered the Girlfriend Magazine
competition and became a national finalist, the same year Abbey Lee
won), the first indigenous Australian model to appear on the cover of
Vogue featured prominently during the 2010 Australian Fashion Week
where she appeared in a record number of shows of any Australian model.
She also appeared in a photoshoot for the label Miu Miu in the
March edition of Australian Vogue, and will feature on the June cover
of the same magazine.
"I enjoy meeting new people and wearing
amazing designer clothes. It's like playing dress ups" says Harris, who
is slowly but surely getting used to the nervous catwalks. "I am
getting better having done so many shows now. When I started I was
really nervous and kept thinking I may fall over".
Harris was
recently asked what her plans for the future was - her answer was
simple and direct "To be the best I can and work internationally. I
would love to help my family out through modelling. "They have been really supportive to me over the years and it is my goal one day to help them".
See,
not only gorgeous, but a family gal too! And if her career so far is
anything to go by, she will have plenty of cash to splash around for
the family.
In January 2011, Harris was named a "young women's fashion ambassador" for Australian department store, David Jones along with Miranda Kerr and Megan Gale, Samantha is part of the television and print campaign of the Spring / Summer 2011/12 season for the department store.
