Hannah Rosé 2012 & Deakin Estate Moscato 2012
Hannah Rosé 2012
For people with a likeness for sweet things and a leaning towards freshly picked
avocados, well get ready to sate your passion, particularly with a low in
alcohol, sweet tasting Deakin Estate Moscato 2012. And it's a wonderful buy at
$10.
Coming from the Murray Darling region in the North West of Victoria and
extracted from Muscat Gordo Blanco grapes, this one has just 6% alcohol, putting
it at under half the normal alcohol content, but it still has a spritzy yet
light-bodied palate. This has been achieved through careful use of CO2, a zingy
natural acidity, and a suggestion of a green apples finish.
Being a sweet tasting wine it is one to enjoy with light desserts. for example,
cheesecakes and meringues, fresh home-made fruit salad, ice cream whipped
together with fresh avocados.
However we must own up to having more than a couple of glasses with (because of
a discovery at this year's Avocado Masterclass Series), a devine dessert of
avocado, chocolate and lime. Yummy!
A Glass For Lunch:
Peter Logan has outshone himself this year with his 2012 Ros´. The
extremely low yields in the crop that went into producing this vintage produced
great flavour concentration in the fruit that was grown in the cold climate of
Orange in NSW's Central West.
Peter Logan said, "The fruit for our 2012 Hannah Rosé developed really
vibrant flavours typical of our cold, high altitude location," and, "It meant
for a resultant wine that's light yet luscious, elegant and restrained."
Logan mixes Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz to make his Rosé that
he describes, in his words, as "being inspired by a combination of lovely
southern French Rosé and Chardonnay."
At $22 it can be enjoyed with anything that's spicy and hot from India or in
high contrast an asparagus salad.
