Paul Ippolito Talks Wine
With Paul Ippolito Wynns Coonawarra Riesling 2007Limes,
limes and more limes, resplendently so alongside lemons and apples
– orchard loads full. Classy, elegant and with a clearly defined
structure, imparted also with minerality. Crisp fresh acidity supports
the fruit, making this a drink now proposition and a medium cellaring
opportunity as well. Delightful delicious Riesling drinking, I can feel
a revival coming on! Try it with lobster salad. Drink to 2015. About $15, and value plus. 93/100 – Excellent. Morris Rutherglen Durif 2004This
is a highly delicious and drinkable red from the Rutherglen region of
Northern Victoria. Sumptuous luxuriant and smooth pure black fruits
– blackberry, blueberry and liqueur plums abound with richness
and intensity. Spice filled with a good dose of cedary oak, alongside
milk chocolate and a hint of game. Brooding dark fruits dominate the
palate with a soft mouthfeel with grainy fine tannins and a
seamlessness that makes for immediate consumption or some medium term
cellaring. Try it with roast beef. Drink to 2014. About $20. 92/100 – Excellent. Wine Rating Scale - Out Of 100 Points98-100 – Exceptional – A truly world class wine 95-97 – Superb – A memorable drinking experience 91-94 – Excellent – A wonderful mix of a top wine at a decent price 88-90 – Very Good – Really well made wine that should impress 85-87 – Good – Honest everyday drinking
