Geelrys (Yellow Rice) Recipe
Ingredients:
1 Cup White Rice
1/3 Cup Sugar (Brown)
½ Teaspoon Salt
½ Cup Raisins (Seedless)
1 Teaspoons Turrenic
1 Tablespoon Butter or Margarine
Method
- Wash rice well.
- Pour rice into a sauceman of boiling water and boil for about 5 minutes then drain.
- Add about one cup of boiling water to the rice and bring to boil again.
- Add all remaining ingredients stirring well.
- Cook without lid on saucepan until the rice is dry.
This South Africian peppery tasting dish is a wonderful way to get your carbohydrates as a side dish to your main meal.
