Arrowfield Wines "Simon Pemberton Pearce Mr Merta's"
Chardonnay Viognier 2004
With Paul Ippolito
Pale yellow in colour reflecting its youth. An aromatic wine
with spicy and light vanillan hints.
The aromas are glorious apple, pineapple, light pears, peach,
melon, tropical fruits as well as hints of honey, also accompanied
by a whiff of nuts and some floral notes (talk about complex!).
All of this is coupled with refreshing and marked fruit acidity.
A very good wine with good fruit weight that is reflected
on the palate. Have with field mushroom risotto and drinking
now and for up to 2 years.
Good blending between the chardonnay and viognier. Well priced
at around $15 and available widely.

General features of Chardonnay:
The taste/aroma is grapefruit, lemon, lime, with maybe a hint
of apricot.
Cellaring? If you wish. But, really, buy something that is
two years old and there is no time like the present!
Just as it dominates the planet, Chardonnay covers practically
the whole food range. Everything from chicken and grilled
meats to exotic creamy seafood.
