Chateau Leamon "Reserve" Cabernet Sauvignon 2003
With Paul Ippolito
A
lovely deep violet plum colour. Supported by a vibrant spicy
nose with stacks of strong concentrated and intensely potent
fruit. Blackcurrant, mulberry, plum and mint aromas and flavours.
Smooth, silky and well rounded young tannins. A medium to
full bodied wine with an extended length. A good balance between
acid, oak and fruit. The oak exhibits spicy and slightly smoky
characters.
Goes well with beef massaman curry or roast pork.
A very good wine which should improve over the next 5 years.
Priced at around $38+ mark.

General Features of Cabernet Sauvignon are:
The taste/aroma is predominantly blackcurrant and peppery,
but variations include touches of redcurrant, plum or even
blackberry and, in the cooler climates, mint.
Cellaring for a couple of years softens the blend and eases
the dry-mouth, tannin taste. But Cabernet Sauvignon is a very
versatile wine. Don't hold back, it can still be enjoyed when
young!
Perfect to enjoy with red meat, including steak, roast lamb,
kangaroo, game.
