Pewsey Vale Individual Vineyard Series

With Paul Ippolito

Pewsey Vale Vineyard Series
Made for the Pewsey Vale Individual Vineyard Series from Eden Valley grape stock, here are three of a number of exceptionally crafted wines by top notch winemaker Louisa Rose, whom in the eyes of many, including myself, can do no wrong with the quality of her winemaking.

Eden Valley Pinot Gris 2005
A vibrant bright lemon colour. Classical aromas flow with luscious juicy pears with crisp citrus characters of apple, lemon and lime, a veritable orchard playing a supporting role.

Spicy honeysuckle delivered in a smooth well rounded fashion on the palate lingering long with a good finish.

It's a food friendly wine and goes with most Asian cuisine and is one to have with honey king prawns. Drinking now for 2 to 3 years plus and well priced at around $22.

Eden Valley Vineyard Gewurztraminer 2005
A very good example of Gewurztraminer - gorgeous lemony straw in colour. Delicately yet aromatically floral with predominant rose petals supplemented with honeysuckle spices and fresh lychees.

Austere, tight and elegant, the palate delivers delicacy yet with softness in fruit character, supported with good acidity and alcohol. Have with Chinese chicken capsicum and broccoli stir-fry. Cellar for 3 to 4 years but frankly speaking its damn fine drinking right now. Priced around $ 22.

Pewsey Vale Eden Valley Riesling 2005
Tight and young in its straw lemon colour. Aromatically citrine with lemon and lime abounding in a quite forward manner. Interestingly also quite floral in nature.

Good supporting acidity to match the fresh fruit features. Smooth soft and round in delivery with lovely long lingering mouth-watering finish. Very drinkable now and cellaring potential for 4 to 5 years plus. A nice match with Thai style lemongrass beef. At about $15, it is very good value for money.
