Apollo Steam Shower: The Ultimate Shower

Apollo Steam Shower
The Apollo Steam Shower is the
ultimate bathroom accessory

In today's world of solar powered cars and kinetic energy powered wrist watches, you'd think that there would be a mass movement away from inefficient high energy products. And you'd be right.

But something else is happening as the mainstream moves to reduce their carbon footprints, and that is the emergence of increasingly popular 'niche' products. Things like the WMK A-16, or as it's otherwise known the Apollo Steam Shower.

It's not the most efficient use of water and energy, but it is cool, and very expensive, and there seems to be an increasing number of wealthy families who are willing to pay the exorbitant prices for this sort of stuff.

Priced at about US$21,000, which is about A$14,600, the Apollo Steam Shower will probably impress your house guests with its unique look than it will with any of its features. It's enclosed in a futuristic 'space capsule' with one rounded side that houses a seat for users who run out of steam (pun intended).

It also has its own lighting system, and once inside users can expect a range of relaxing water delivery systems:

  • Steam Generator (3,000 Watt Steam Generator with Digital Timer)

  • Hydrotherapy Foot Massager (Foot Massage with WMK Foot Scrub System)

  • 6 Acupuncture Body Massage Jets

  • Hands Free System Volume Control (WMK Microphone)

  • Ozone Sterilization Function

  • 2 x Shower Heads

As well as the steam system (one of the reasons the Steam Shower is completely enclosed) and foot massager and all the other features, the Apollo Steam Shower also comes with useful waterproof stereo inputs and a range of other buttons and levers to play with. Like steam rooms you'd find at a gym or fitness centre or hotel, steam showers cleanse the pores of toxins by allowing you to sweat out the gunk. Unlike sauna's, which use dry heat to relax the body and cleanse it, steam showers use wet heat.

If Australia wasn't engulfed in one of the worst droughts to afflict this country, the dryest continent on Earth, perhaps something like the Apollo Steam Shower would be considered a viable and indeed relaxing alternative to the standard shower. Or maybe there's a recycled or grey water work around? We can dream... About steam...
