Coco Rocha
It's about time we take a stand! For far to long we've encouraged the praise of exotic models from all across the globe. Most of them non-English speaking countries that specialise in blonde bombshell or exotic sex goddesses.
In light of this information we've decided to focus on a model from the least exotic location on Earth, a location that - if it were a colour - would be intistinguishable to the naked eye due to its complete lack of relevance... I'm talking about non other than Canada.
Our sexy temptress is Coco Rocha, a name as ridiculous as cheese is stinky, was one of the lucky ones. Born in Toronto (Ontario) Cococ grew up in British Columbia in which she lived a simple live by attending McRoberts Secondary School.
Her career kick started in the year 2002, a year as important and influencial as the year a piece of cheese, when a fashion agent by the name of Charles Stuart approached Coco Rocha at an Irish dance competition (which, on paper, sounds incredibly creepy and potentially criminal). It was he she was asked to consider modelling, a consider she did!

However, it took a further two years for Coco's professional career to officially get off the ground when she signed with the label Supreme in NYC. As is often the case with showbiz, success didn't simply happen overnight, in fact it took a further two years for Rocha to really break through.
This lucky break came in the form of crossing paths with fashion photographer Steven Meisel. It was this chance encounter that led to being featured in major editorials with the likes of Aussie Gemma Ward and Amanda Moore. The editorial landed her the cover of the February 2006 issue of Vogue Italia.
From here, it was on for young and old. She did just about everything there was to be done: the Spring / Summer 2006 New York City runways for Anna Sui and Marc Jacobs, Paris Fashion Week, Stella McCartney, Shiatzy Chen, Christian Lacroix and even popping up at the Louis Vuitton show.
Not content with simply walking the runway, Coco made history during Jean Paul Gaultier's Scottish Highlands Fall / Winter show in 2007 when she oddly opened the show by Irish dancing down the runway. The moment was so iconic it was dubbed the "Coco Moment". Later that year she shared the cover of Vogue with Doutzen Kroes, Caroline Trentini, Raquel Zimmermann, Sasha Pivovarova, Agyness Deyn, Jessica Stam, Hilary Rhoda, Chanel Iman, and Lily Donaldson as the new crop of supermodels.

To add to her dancing skills, Coco is also unique for the fact that she is one of the very few models who have ever spoken out against eating disorders within the modelling industry. Sure, we all know it's happening, but rarely do the actual models speak about it.
In her open letter to the New York Times, Coco Rocha spoke strongly about the pressures models faced within the fashion industry saying "How can any person justify an aesthetic that reduces a woman or child to an emaciated skeleton? Is it art?". The letter goes onto say "Surely fashion's aesthetic should enhance and beautify the human form, not destroy it."
The most shocking excerpt of the letter was saved for last : "I'll never forget the piece of advice I got from people in the industry when they saw my new body ... They said, 'You need to lose more weight. The look this year is anorexia. We don't want you to be anorexic but that's what we want you to look like."
That says it all doesn't it?
Well I'm glad for one that we have such a strong woman speaking out against the craziness of the industry. Who said nothing good ever comes out of Canada, huh?!
