Lindeman's Bin 65 Chardonnay 2012 & Zonin Two Pack
Zonin Two Pack
The Lindeman's $9.99 Bin selection has, for a long time, maintained the reputation, both internationally and within Australia, for value and quality.
Their recent release for 2012 has included a Bin 65 Chardonnay that mirrors an outstanding vintage in the grapes sourced from the south-eastern region of Australia. The region includes: Robinvale (close to Swan Hill), Sunraysia and Riverland each of which experienced fine rainfall over Spring then followed by mild to warm temperatures that lead to excellent fruit with even ripening.
Following crushing the wine spent six months in French oak barrels resulting in a a delightful easy to drink beverage. And for those Chardonnay buffs, there is the pleasant fruit salad aromas of rock melon, fig and peach as well as a crisp finish of toasty oak.
This one can be be enjoyed on its own chilled or will nicely complement veal chops with a fried mushroom topping, pan fried crab cakes if preferred, or chicken smothered in a creamy sauce.
A Notable Drop
The Italian Zonin Winery, company has been around since 1821, has produced a couple of reduced alcohol sparkling wines. The wines are presented in a neat canvas carry bag with a see through plastic front. Priced at $23.95 it's a great treat for your next picnic or party.
The wine was obtained from the countries premier wine making regions; Veneto, Apulia, Sicily, Lombardi, Piedmont, Tuscany and Friuli. The Zonin Proescco DOC Spumante Brut contains 11% alcohol and the Zonin Asti DOCG just 7.5%.
Both vintages display a fruity bouquet which is quite exciting on the palate. A excellent wine for those who want a lower alcohol content. You'll find the pack at BWS and Woolworths Liquor outlets around Australia.
