Yellowglen's Exceptional Vintage XV Wines & Killerby Premium Series Chardonnay 2010
It's very rare that a major wine producer will own up to taking their "eye off the ball". But Yellowglen have done just that and they're undertaking some positive action to rectify the situation..

Michelle Terry, the Managing Director, said, "While our commercial tiers have been responsible for the incredible growth of Yellowglen over the past decade, there is one element of our story that has been overlooked in recent years: that is our place as Australia’s premier house of sparkling.”
She added further, “So over the past year we’ve reviewed every element of Yellowglen. We’ve re-engaged with founder Ian Home to uncover the depth and heritage of the brand, we’ve reviewed our branding and packaging, and we have introduced new wines… including the recent release of the Exceptional Vintage XV wines one of our greatest achievements to date.”
The range includes a 2012, a 2004 and a 2002 - a sparkling that demonstrates the high quality achievable in Australia. Terry declared of the 2002, “this is the ultimate showcase of Yellowglen’s hallmark refined and delicate characters, enriched with layered complexity.”
The 2002 Sparkling was made from grapes harvested from Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills. It has had nine years on yeast lees in the bottle in the cold cellars of the Company. It is intense with floral notes resulting in a complex and rich palate.it also has a delicate bead and a lingering, fresh finish. At just under $50 it's one for your next extra special celebration.
A Glass For Lunch
Margaret River wine maker Killerby, although taken over in 2008 by Ferngrove Wines, continues to focus on small winery management philosophies and techniques and as a result has gained a highly sought reputation since it was founded in 1973.
And we can see that reputation reflected in the recent release of it's Killerby Premium Series Chardonnay 2010. It is a highly satisfying drop with zesty lemon, ginger, limey citrus and stone fruit flavours. It also has a pleasant long finish.
An enjoyable wine at $30 and complements crumbed veal cutlets and a refreshing crisp garden salad.
