World's fastest man crashes BMW sports coupe
|
Jamaican athlete Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world, has walked away from a serious car crash in his home country. Gifted
with a brand new BMW M3 by his major sponsor, Puma, Usain Bolt and two
female companions riding with him were largely unhurt after the
accident. Jamaican police said speed didn't appear to be a factor in the crash, which occurred on wet roads. Both front tyres were punctured and one of the front wheels was partially torn away from the car. It
appeared that both the front and rear end of the car was heavily
damaged, suggesting the car spun of out control, colliding multiple
times until stopping. At the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Usain
Bolt broke the 100m and 200m sprint world records and walked away with
a large haul of gold medals. The 2008 Male World Athlete of the Year was taken to hospital after the accident but received only minor injuries. Asked how he felt after wrecking his BMW M3 and the trauma of the crash, Bolt said: "Me good man. Me all right, a just few cuts man, me all right". He was seen leaving hospital with bandages on his feet. The
22-year-old sprinter is expected to give up driving high powered sports
cars like the BMW M3 for the next few weeks as he recovers. <Back
