2007 Zed Recipe -
More HerbsThe 350Z
gets a new bonnet and more power in 2007, but little else. The 350Z
will be thoroughly redesigned in 2009, with a new look, a new interior
and a range of other features, and maybe even a new model such as the
360Z or a factory forced induction model. For now
though, it's
clear that Nissan went down the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' path
when upgrading to the 2007 model, but the extra grunt from the
3.5-litre bent six engine should give current owners a reason to take a
closer look at the new model. The extra herbs will no doubt give it
more spring in its step, something it didn't necessarily need but
certainly won't hurt it either. We'll give it a drive soon and let you
know if the extra power makes much difference. - Feann Torr, Editor |

It's one of our favourite sports car here
at the Motoring Channel - check out the glowing reviews here and here
- and we're getting even more excited that Nissan has
launched the new 2007 model 350Z which has been given a few
tweaks
that will increase its iconic appeal even further. Before
the new Skyline GT-R hits the streets in 2008 (after it's launch later
this year in Japan at the Tokyo Motor Show), fans of Nissan's
performance cars will be able to get their hands on the
2007 Nissan 350Z, which will start at an unchanged $62,990 for
the entry-level touring coupe, up to $73,990 for the convertible
Roadster Track model. The
only aspect of the 350Z that has been on sale in Australia and
across the world for the last half decade was the not-quite perfect
interior, which used cheap plastics and didn't offer much luggage
space. It doesn't look as though these issues have been addressed, but
we'll wait until the Ed does a full road test before we pass judgement. What's
new? More power from the 3.5-litre V6 engine. A new look engine hood.
These things don't sound like much, but the new look hood with
a
power bulge (replacing the two vertical lines) looks better
than
before and is a subtle hint that the vehicle you're seeing is
both
quicker and more powerful than the older versions. For
better or worse, the 18-inch 5-spoke wheel design is different from the
American 350Z design, but is the same as the previous local version's. Claimed
to hit 100km/h from standstill in 5.7 seconds, the 2007 Nissan 350Z has
been training in the off-season and makes more power and torque than
the 2006 models. The VQ series 3.5-litre Nissan engine has a10.6:1
compression ratio (up from 10.3:1) and develops 230kW of power @
6800rpm, compared to 221kW @ 6400rpm for the 2006 model. Torque has risen slightly from 353Nm to 358Nm @ an
unchanged 4800rpm. Like the '06
Nissan 350Z range there are four models on offer: Nissan 350Z Coupe
