Carrera-ing to go
Porsche is on the verge of something very special - they
call it the Carrera GT.
This amazing piece of machinery is rather enigmatic - in
that to catch it you'll need to be driving something very
special.
For starters, the 5.5-litre V10 engine is not to be sniffed
at, churning out 410 kW - or a massive 558hp in old-school
lingo. Peak torque of this rear-wheel drive machine is a mind-shattering
600 Nm, which is enough to bring the front wheels clear off
the bitumen - who said motor-bikes were the only ones who
could do wheelies?
Weighing in at 1250kg, this light-weight car has a top speed
of over 330km/h.
It can reach 100km/h from standstill in under four seconds
and 0-200km/h in under 10 seconds.
The six-speed manual Carrera GT is quite the looker. It is
the next step for Porsche in an evolutionary cycle that has
received nothing but praise.
The Carrera GT is completely based on race technology. Everything
about it screams racetrack, though put this baby on the road
and you'll never want to stop driving, either.
The majority of the car is made from the lightest and most
durable materials - from aluminium to carbon-fibre and even
ceramics. There is enough high-tech weight-saving measures
in place to put Jenny Craig out of business.
Simply put, this car is awesome. We have no details on price,
but rest assured it will fetch a six-figure sum that would
make Kerry Packer wince. Check out our sneak-peek photos from
Porsche and enjoy!
