Holden does the math: 4 x 4 = success

Holden brings out the AWD nameplate

Rear-wheel drive is good - but 4x4 is better

Some will tell you that the high point of the Sydney Motor
Show was seeing the Ferrari Enzo in the flesh, others will
regale you with stories of the manic Dodge Viper.
But for these high-octane Wombats, however, the show's best
exhibit was locally made.
Holden unveiled a number of exciting products, the SSX sitting
at the top of the list. Also on show was HRTs storming Monaro
racecar, the stylish new ZC Vectra and an individually appointed,
limited edition Holden Statesman, known as the LS8, made its
debut.
Holden has had yet another great year in 2002, and looks
set to build on this during 2003 with a host of new offerings,
including the new Vectra and Cross8 models. Still, the Blue
Oval has been equally busy, and the Falcon could take a sizable
chunk out of Holden's market domination in the coming months.
At the very least, it should make for interesting rhetoric
from the likes of Hanenberger and Polites.
But with models like the SSX and the 427 Monaro, Holden is
still pushing the envelope, and for a tiny Australian car
builder with limited funds, it is doing this most admirably.
