2002 Melbourne International Motor Show

Despite a bevy of new vehicles and many an enthused motoring executive, this years Melbourne Motor show wasn't up to the usual standard. There were only a handful of never-before-seen models, and most of what was on offer we've already reported on.

Despite this, there was one big surprise - Ford's R7. Last year Ford unveiled it's R5 - a king-cab ute, if you will, with a big tray and seating for four.

It was quite a hit, but no one would have guessed it would spawn an all-new concept. Well, the R7 is a new cross-over vehicle, which gives a detailed insight into both how future Ford models will look, and what sort of avenues the marque is prepared to travel down.
