2009 Adelaide Motor Show Cancelled
|
Adelaide, Australia — Another day, another casualty in the automobile industry. The
Adelaide Motor Show, which has been running in the capital of South
Australia since the early 1970s, has been cancelled after a lack of
interest from car and motorcycle manufacturers. This follows the news that the 2009 Brisbane Motor Show has also been cancelled. The 2009 Adelaide
Motor Show, which was due to run from April 1st until the 5th, could
return in following years if the economic conditions improve. "We
regret having to make this decision as we had some new and very
exciting attractions planned," the Executive director of the
automotive exhibitors association of South
Australia, Ian Digby, told AAP. In addition to the suspension of the Adelaide Motor Show, the 2009 Sydney
Motor Show will also experience a drop in the number of car
manufacturers exhibiting, and the big International motor shows aren't
immune either. The upcoming North American International Auto
Show (NAIAS), one of the biggest motor shows of the year which is
scheduled for January 2009, has lost car makers like Ferrari, Land
Rover and Rolls-Royce after they confirmed they wouldn't attend. Even
the premium brands are being hit by the current economic gloom, as car
companies from all corners of the globe look to cut costs and
streamline their businesses amid flagging sales. Related Links:
