This is the official 'teaser'
of the Aston Martin One-77

Gaydon, England — It was only a matter of time before Aston Martin's most exclusive car, the One-77, was leaked.

Dutch website 925.nl published the photos yesterday and already duplications are cropping up around the globe.

The big news? It looks good.

The Aston Martin One-77 shows off a traditional Aston grille, and the overall body shape and silhouette have strong family genes as well.

However it's smaller details that mark this vehicle as special, things like the air intakes that slash their way down through the leading edge of head lights, and the bold strakes in the doors.

The rear end of the car is wider than the front giving it a somewhat technical motor sports-inspired footprint, while the long hood and swept-back cabin leave no doubt about to the vehicle's intent.

The ultra-exclusive Aston Martin sports car is powered by a whopping 7.3-litre V12 engine which is rumoured to output more than 700 horsepower, which is more than 500 kilowatts - about twice the muscle of the current Holden SS Commodore.

Mechanical details and the car's design (until now) have been kept tightly under wraps, and all we know is that is has a huge 12-cylinder engine and it will be relatively light, for an Aston.

Update: Aston Martin's CEO, Ulrich Bez, has confirmed new details of the One-77. It will be powered by a 7.0-litre engine, not a 7.3-litre mill as first thought, but precise power output and whether it compete with Bugatti is still unclear.

However Bez said, "It's not all about power or being in a performance race with Bugatti. It's a fabulous, hand-built car that's the pinnacle of what Aston Martin can achieve."

The car's dimensions we now have: the Aston Martin One-77 will be very chubby at 1.99 metres wide and just 1.22 metres tall. It is 4.57 metres long and will weigh 1500kg, which is incredibly light for an Aston.

It has aluminium body work and a carbon fibre chassis is rumoured to underpin the vehicle, which will make it one of Aston Martin's lightest vehicles.

Aston Martin will build only 77 of these amazing super cars, and guess what? All of them are sold out already.

There are 77 extremely rich people out there who have forked over the £200,000 deposit for the vehicle, which costs a total of £1.05 million upon collection.

That's a lot of money for a car. The £1.05 million amount converts to about €1.4 million or $A2.6 million, making it one of the most expensive cars ever built, up there with the Bugatti Veyron.

So much for the global financial crisis. Someone's still making money...

We're still waiting for Aston Martin to deliver the technical specifications on the One-77, such as kerb weight, exact power output, and of course the important top speed and zero to 100km/h figures.

The early wagers are putting the top speed at around 340km/h, and the zero to 100km/h sprint at around 3.6 seconds, but we'll have all the details in due course, when Aston Martin officially announces the One-77.

Aston Martin claims the car will be finished by the end of this year and deliveries will start in late 2009.

More news as we get it, so check back soon.
