There's a small pool of engine coolant on the ground and that means only one thing - a leak. A spreadsheet document, purportedly the Audi new vehicle manifest for the new few years, has been leaked. Though
we can't vouch for its authenticity, it has been doing the Internet
rounds and most of the information appears to be in line with future
predictions. Some of the more interesting aspects of the leaked
document include the upcoming Audi S4. As we have previously predicted
the new Audi S4 will be powered by a forced induction V6, arriving
in early 2008. The engine designation is 3.0 TFSI, so earlier
reports of a supercharged engine may be dashed as TFSI usually stands
for 'turbo' fuel stratified injection. It will output 245kW (333hp) and
will available with a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed S-tronic auto. While
the S4 will switch to forced induction 6-cylinder power, the S5 model
will stay as a 4.2-litre V8 until 2010, when it will also switch to the
same blown 245kW 3.0-litre V6. According to the leaked document, the A5 range will also expand to include a wagon, a new Sportback model, in 2010. There
will also be a range-topping A5 model, the RS 5, which will arrive in
July 2010 and be powered by a high tune version of the 4.2-litre V8
outputting 331kW (450hp). Mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission,
the RS 5 should be an seriously potent 2-door sports car. At the other end of the scale, Audi's all-new A1 will arrive make its debut in early 2010. The
new vehicle is very small and will rival the Mini Cooper and Fiat 500.
It will packaged with small 1.2-litre eco engines with 63kw (86hp),
plus there will also be 1.4 TSI engines and 1.6- and 2.0-litre TDI
diesel engines. Another addition to the manifest, which was
allegedly leaked from a Czech Audi office, that is raising eyebrows
is a new model, the A7. Expected to rival the Mercedes-Benz
CLS-Class, this model could be a smooth 4-door coupe model about the
size of an Audi A6 or a BMW 5 Series. Power will come from V6 petrol
and diesel engines, though there is also mention of a "4.0 TFSI" engine
with 290kW (394hp), which could be an 8-cylinder engine.
In
the SUV department, there is mention of the Q3 compact 4WD model
scheduled for a 2010, but we think this may be referring to the Q5
rollout in 2010 which has previously been mooted. Powered will
come from 2.0-litre turbo diesel and petrol
engines in much the same vein as the Volkswagen Tiguan. The mid-sized
Q7 V12 diesel will launch early next year. Finally there's Audi's
mid-engined super car, the R8, which will get the 5.2-litre V10 engine
in mid 2009, outputting a riotous 386kW (525hp), followed by Spyder
(convertible) versions of the R8 in 2010, the latter powered by both
V10 and V8 engines. Time will tell if this leaked document is the real deal, but consensus is that the manifest is legitimate.
