Molsheim, France - Recent reports reveal that the Volkswagen Group are planning to make a second generation Bugatti Veyron that will feature more power and a higher top speed.

The next generation Veyron will look different and will take some design cues from the original 1999 Veyron concept by Walter de Silva, now head of design at VW Group.

As if the 408km/h top speed of the original Veyron wasn't fast enough, the new car will have a top speed of 434km/h.

Sitting under the bonnet is an 8.0-litre W16 engine that has four turbochargers, while sending power to all four wheels is a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Power and torque figures are similar to the current Super Sport model - producing 895kW of power and 1500Nm of torque.

The new Veyron will take just 2.5 seconds to reach 100km/h from a standing start putting the new car slightly in front of the Super Sport's performance numbers by means of shedding a few kilos.

The new car will weigh around 1,838kg, in order to keep overall weight down the new Bugatti Veyron will feature carbon-composite materials for its monocoque chassis and much of its cabin trim. It will also come with thinner glass and lighter alloy wheels.

Reports suggest that the new Bugatti Veyron will debut sometime in 2013 and will go on sale in 2014 with an expected price tag of around $1.6 million.
