Citroën has announced that its New C3, C3 Picasso, C4, C4 Picasso, C5,
C6 and DS3 models will have the option of on-board wireless internet
connectivity. Available as an accessory, Citroën's new WiFi On Board
system enables multiple devices to connect to the internet whilst on
the move, or when the vehicle is stationary.
An installed WiFi box, which
houses a 3G or 3G+ SIM card - that can be purchased from any mobile
internet provider - creates a wireless network within the vehicle
allowing multiple WiFi devices such as laptops, smart phones and
portable games consoles to simultaneously play games, check e-mails,
tweet and surf the internet. The system makes it possible for
passengers to enjoy internet access during journeys and to make more
effective use of their time in the car or play games if they choose.
This system would prove invaluable
to Fleet and Business users who can also access the internet when the
car is parked safely. To avoid expensive data costs when travelling
abroad, the system is installed with roaming disabled as the default
setting.
Citroën WiFi On Board is available
from just £545, including installation and VAT at 17.5% (excludes the
cost of the 3G/3G+ SIM card and internet access charges).
The availability of Citroën WiFi
On Board will be extended to other car and LCV models before the end of
2010. However there has been no word whether or not this option will be
made available to Australian customers.
