France -
Citroën first revealed the Survolt full-electric supercar at the Geneva
Motor Show earlier in the year.
The Survolt has since then made
its track debut last weekend at the Le Mans Classic racing event.
Sitting behind the wheel was racing driver Vanina Ickx, daughter of
Belgian Formula One pilot, Jacky Ickx.
"I
am very proud to have participated in this unique project," said
Vanina. "On the track it felt really good. It's a real race car, with a
very promising potential for the future."
The Citroën Survolt wasn't the
only supercar to lap the Le Mans Circuit, joining the group was the
GTbyCITROËN supercar concept and a host of DS3 models.
The compact supercar is 3.85metres
long and features a tubular frame with a full carbon body and a flat
underside.
The front of the vehicle features
a large oval-shaped grille where the distinctive double chevron badge
resides. Its slim, horizontal head lamps, inspired by high-performance
sports coupés, exert a sleek and sporty appeal, while an LED light
signature adds a contemporary touch.
The Citroën Survolt is powered by
two electric motors that deliver up to 224kW of power. This allows the
car to reach speeds up to around 260km/h while taking just under five
seconds to accelerate from 0-100km/h.
Sending power to the motors is two
140kg lithium-ion batteries that offer around 200km from a single
charge. Re-charging takes around two hours with a specific power
supply, or in 10 hours on a standard 220 Volt network.
