United Kingdom - Subaru
and Cosworth have teamed up to produce supercar-like performance
figures for the hot hatch segment.
Introducing, the Cosworth Impreza STi CS400. This beast of a car is
based on the Subaru STi hatch, but unlike the standard 227kW of power
produced, this new machine boasts a much larger power figure.
Cosworth have taken the standard 2.5-litre Boxer turbo engine and
increased maximum power to 295kW and pushed torque figures to
540Nm. The improved power means the Cosworth Impreza STi
CS400 can rocket from 0 to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds, before topping out
at a limited 250km/h.
Just to put that into perspective, that's the same amount of time it
takes a V12 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano to accelerate from 0 to
100km/h. Cosworth have added new pistons, connecting rods, a redesigned head
gasket and a new turbo with a new compressor design and wastegate
actuator. In addition Cosworth have also remapped the ECU. Other additions include 10mm lowered suspension, a
12mm wider track and AP Racing 355mm discs brakes.
At a glance you will notice a few styling changes
that include a new front bumper, mesh grille, foglights and a new rear
spoiler. Wheels are a set of new 18-inch alloys. The Cosworth Impreza
STi CS400 comes with in a choice of three colours - silver, dark grey
or red.
Meanwhile, the interior features new Recaro front
seats, a piano black centre console, privacy glass and Cosworth badges.
The Cosworth Impreza STi CS400 is limited to just
75 units and will be manufactured exclusively for the UK. Pricing
starts at £49,995 (AUD$86,984).
