Michigan, America — American car maker Dodge has revealed three new concept cars based on the Challenger muscle car, including a bad-ass 10-cylinder monster.

To be shown at 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas, the new models are a good showcase for car modification and aftermarket addons.

Challenger SRT10 Concept

This new Challenger concept has a bold new paintjob, lots of decals, upgraded brakes, Bilstein shock absorbers all round, and tough shaker hood that hints at the concept car's hiked performance.

Powered by the Dodge Viper's huge 8.4-litre all-alloy V10 engine, the Challenger SRT10 Concept outputs 600 ponies, or 447 kilowatts to use the metric power measurement.

Dodge will unveil the Challenger SRT10 Concept at the 2008 SEMA show, in Las Vegas, when the event opens on November 4th and says the crazy concept car is designed to "one-up" itself.

Dumping 758Nm (560 lb.ft) of torque onto the transmission, Dodge says the new "halo concept delivers the well-known SRT credo of benchmark performance."

Dodge Challenger Blacktop

Though it's now powered by 10-cylinder truck engine, the Dodge Challenger Blacktop Concept is a "menacing creation from the minds of the Mopar Underground design team" says the American car maker.

"The Dodge Challenger Blacktop began life as a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T equipped with a 5.7-litre HEMI V8 and 6-speed manual transmission," reads the media statement, but adds various engine mods, such as a cold air intake and cat back dual-exhaust to improve power.

The Blacktop also features a customised body kit with a classic muscle car chin spoiler and black-on-black decals.

It also features an "in the weeds" stance according to Dodge, and has improved handling characteristics thanks to Mopar coil-over suspension and a strut tower brace.

According to Dodge, the Challenger Blacktop Concept rolls on massive 22-inch Dodge Viper wheels from Factory Reproductions wrapped in Dunlop tyres measuring 265/35 R22 front and 305/30 R22 rear. It also boasts a custom cabin, withKatzkin red leather seating and a Mopar Kicker audio system.

Dodge Challenger Targa

Not so much a concept car as a "full-blown competition car," the Dodge Challenger Targa is nicknamed 'Samantha' and started life as a Mopar Challenger drag race package car, says the American car maker.

It features snakeskin green paint, a Mopar chin spoiler that was developed in a full scale wind tunnel, Mopar gauges, Mopar hood, Mopar everything really. Mopar (Motor Parts) is a Chrysler-owned company that works on developing performance equipment.

Power comes from a 392 HEMI V8 Mopar crate motor that outputs 403kW (540hp) and 623Nm (490 lb.ft) of torque. The Dodge Challenger Targa uses a Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox and has uprated Stop-Tech brakes with big 6-piston calipers that clamp 380-millimetre rotors up front and upgraded KW suspension.
