Bologna, Italy -
The 1198 S is
a great package, taking everything that the 1198 model has and adding
top-of-the-range suspension, lightweight chassis components and
Ducati's impressive DTC traction control system.
On any sport or
race bike, the secret to going fast is to reduce weight and the first
place to start is 'unsprung weight'. These are components like tyres,
brakes and wheels.
Lighter wheels have a lower 'moment of
inertia' that is beneficial with every direction change and application
of the brakes. The 1198 S addresses this important area by mounting
forged and machined super lightweight, both front and rear wheels. The
weight saving is further enhanced with the application of a carbon
fibre front fender.
The 1198 S features a 1198cc Testastretta
Evoluzione L-twin engine, developing 125kW and 131.4Nm of torque.
Meanwhile the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) system enhances safety
performance on the road, while the race-quality Öhlins 43mm front forks
and Öhlins rear coil-over damper (exclusive to the S) improve cornering
performance.
This race ready street machine features an
aerodynamic shape that creates a natural riding position. Ducati's
development and factory team riders have created the optimum position
for speed and agility.
The Ducati 1198 S has three colours to choose from
- Red, Midnight Black and joining the colour line up - White
Pearl.
