Las Vegas, USA —
The world's biggest car tuning show, SEMA, takes place in Nevada every
year where aftermarket tuners and car modification groups show off the
'special' stuff. Like Las Vegas, SEMA is a place of glitz and glamour, where the world's wildest and most freaked out cars are commonplace. The 2007 SEMA show has been huge, with hundreds of chopped, cropped, and altered cars, and this is one of them: the Honda Accord HF-S Concept. Crafted
by Honda Access America, the Honda Accord Coupe gets a number of
modifications, least of which is the electronically controlled power
drive system that lets the driver adjust everything from traction
control levels, to throttle response, suspension stiffness, and even
the power steering ratio. It's also got a range of visual
accoutrements, including LED driving lights, a new front bumper
that has been designed "to create a vortex effect to enhance
high-speed aerodynamics and engine cooling". As well as the new front end, the Honda Accord HF-S Concept gets carbon fibre wheel arches and an quasi rear diffuser that was designed to
reduce drag. There's also a rear deck lid spoiler, "a prototype design engineered for
high-speed down-force" according to Honda. With a two-stage exhaust design, which is quiet at low throttle input levels and gets loud with higher loads, the Honda Accord HF-S sounds good and looks good. Finished with a metallic grey color, the exterior is
accented by Cadmium Orange Pearl which is supposed to be a color derived from super-heated
metal. Honda
says the Accord HF-S Concept shows what can be done with car
customisation, and for all intents and purposes it look like an
official concept car rather than a tuned up, pimped out custom ride. John
Mendel, the executive vice president of American Honda, said the new
car shows where Honda is headed: "The Accord HF-S Concept provides a
glimpse into the future of vehicle customization." Key to the concept is the use of technology to electronically customize
throttle response, suspension settings, steering boost, and traction
involvement to the driver's taste.
