Top 10 cars of the year
Looking back at the year that was, we've experience much,
seen more than our fair share of vehicles and have watched
how increasingly tough the market is becoming for car makers.
As such, we thought it only polite to do a bit of an end-of-year
round-up. We'll take a look at ten cars and describe why we
think they are the best.
When it comes to power - more is always better, but we didn't
neccesarily pick the most powerful, or expensive cars. In
hindsight, we ended up choosing cars that we would like to
drive ourselves, but we'll let the explanations do the talking.
Anyway, we hope you guys, our faithful readers, have a great
Christmas and happy New Year, and perhaps even a shiny new
set of wheels!
Cheers.
Feann Torr, Online Editor.

No.10
Honda's only entry, the Civic Type R, is perhaps the
hottest hatch on the planet. It packs more punch than
the Integra Type R, darting from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds,
offers needle-sharp drivability, impressive LEV economy
and hi-tech style in a package that's just screams "drive
me". Who could resist?

Like a finely sculpted work of art, the last place
you'd expect his super luxury tourer to emerge from
is the USA. The American-built Cunningham C7 GT may
be expensive, but this is one refined luxury car. It's
got power, prestige and styling cues that are completely
unique. A sentimental favourite.

Right from the kick off this new Hyundai had promise.
Offering an alternative to the Pajeros, Prados and Jackaroos,
it is significantly cheaper while offering all the latest
in terms of technology, safety and comfort. With its
impressive new powerplant, a 3.5-litre V6, we think
the Terracan is very deserving of the #8 spot.

If not for the impressive new X80, no British marque
would have made the 2001 cut. But Rover MG is looking
very seriously at turning the company around, and this
car is a crucial aspect in achieving this. With a thumping
4.6-litre V8 capable of 283kW and looks to match, the
new X80 is one to look out for.

The first of two Australian cars to make the hot list,
the new HSV Coupés are not only pants-creamingingly
good to look at, but they go like the clackers, too.
With uprated suspension, transmission and power, the
two new Coupés are sure to be etched into Australian
motoring history forever.
