Melbourne, Australia
– The Holden Special Vehicle stand at the 2009 Melbourne International Motor Show showed
a number of hardcore performance models, including the mad W427, the
practical HSV Tourer wagon and a limited edition Senator. Only 89
limited edition Senators will be made, and priced almost $10,000 below
the standard price you'd want to be quick to get one. Having been
around since 1992 debuting as the VP Senator, the Senator has become
one of HSV's most successful models and is synonymous with
'luxury-performance' and 'burnouts'. "Our Senator Signature model
has introduced a whole new range of customers to the HSV brand and
reminded existing customers what luxury-performance is all about," said HSV's managing director Phil Harding. "Today's
release of the E-Series Senator is designed to appeal to customers
seeking the performance our company is renowned for in a subtle –
yet identifiably HSV – package, with a very attractive price
point," he said. Pricing will start from $69,990 and just 30 manual and 59 automatic HSV Senators will be released. The Senator will come with leather onyx seats as standard and is available in a variety of colours.
The
limited edition Senator will be powered by an HSV-tuned LS3 V8
engine that outputs 317kW of power and is claimed to reach 100km/h in around 5.0 seconds. HSV
performance suspension and 19-inch billet silver Senator wheels
with wider rear treads ensure handling is up to scratch and silver
brake calipers incorporating the black HSV logo. The ever-present Senator logo features on the front and rear seat headrests too. With
just 89 HSV Senators being released, the new E- Series HSV is a very
exclusive product and will probably turn into a low level collectors
item. The W427 and ClubSport R8 Tourer will also be joining the Senator at the Melbourne International Motor Show. Production
of the W427 began in July 2008 and was first showcased at last year's
motor show and HSV has stated that it will only produce 200 units. Final
orders for the W427 will be taken in April. The W427 is powered by a
7.0-litre Corvette engine and is an HSV enthusiast's dream. Any
prospective buyer will have to act fast as they won't be around for
long. Last
but not least the final car being showcased on the Holden Special
Vehicles stand this year is the ClubSport R8 Tourer. Which is pretty much a HSV power machine that has all the versatility of a wagon, but wrapped in a sporty designed package. With reverse parking camera as standard, the Tourer is priced from $65,990
– about $1000 more than the ClubSport R8 sedan. Not bad for a
proper performance car with gigantic boot and 19-inch mags. Related Links:
