Hummer H2 by Geiger Cars: The Perfect Christmas Gift
Motoring Channel Staff - 7/Dec/2006 | Hummer H2 by GeigerCars
With 235 kilowatts of power, who needs reindeer?
At night, the Christmas H2 Hummer is lit up like, well, like a Christmas Tree
Jingle Bells, Jing... ARGH!Reindeer are out, SUVs are in! As the Munich-based tuning group Geiger Cars explains, Santa is apparently
delivering his presents using a very
special H2 this year, which is proof beyond
doubt that Santa is a petrol head. This freakish creation is quite
a sight, and is just as jaw-droppingly repulsive inside as it is out. Note
the faux fireplace, and red leather couch which appears to be bereft of
any seat belts. Let's hope Santa has a steady hand on the wheel. - Feann Torr, Editor |
The "cuddly interior ambiance" is created with a fake brick chimney, LED lights, LCD screens and 3,800 watts of acoustic intensity
There's even a fake fireplace, and check out the inside the windows - it's a wheel

Munich, Germany —
In Australia we celebrate our festive season down by the beach as
summer sweeps across the continent, but some places are up to their
knees in snow, including the headquarters of German tuning group Geiger Cars. Geiger
Cars may be a German company, but it's vehicles of choice are almost
exclusively American cars, and seeing as the Hummer H2 is one of its
favourite canvasses, the company has revealed this very loud, very
bright modified Hummer H2 with a very merry theme. The
jaw-dropping vehicle is finished in a bright red colour scheme, which
features an airbrushed winter scene along its sides and even a
shooting star painted on its rear side sections (said to be a depiction
of the Star of Bethlehem). According to Geiger Cars, the body was
also modified extensively. As part of the changes to greatest/worst
Christmas gift ever, the front doors no longer open in the conventional
way; they now open by swinging up like gullwing doors says the German
company. Other modifications made to the vehicle - which is
a one off and not intended to be taken too seriously - may remind
readers of the houses they sometimes see decorated with huge numbers of
lights during the festive season. According to Geiger Cars, it has
achieved the perfect Christmas looks by permanently affixing 250
LED lights to the H2's body work, which follow the vehicles rugged
contours. As well as the gullwing doors, the airbrushed murals,
and the gullwing doors, this specially modified H2 even has one or two
practical features, including a custom-made external rear luggage rack,
that can safely secure two Snowboards as well as two curling
stones and hockey sticks, says Geiger Cars. In addition to all the
winter sports equipment racks, the large SUV also get a roof carrier
box for skis and stocks, which sits next to an old world sled
ridden by a Santa doll. To top it all off, the arresting Christmas H2 is fitted with 22-inch chrome wheels fitted with
Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres (325/55 R22). Being
as popular as they are, accessories are always welcome, and Geiger Cars
has a plan should the
snow get too deep for H2. The European tuning company explains
that Santa Claus can switch to the
snowmobile painted in the same theme as the Hummer itself, and there's
even a matching trailer to keep the fashion police off your back (and
also uses the same 22-inch alloy wheels as the Hummer H2). Another
body modification for the Christmas-themed H2 includes
the tin-coated metal mouldings that have been welded into the
rear side window openings, which give the interior a cabin-like feel by
removing the see-through windows. Like the exterior, the interior
completely lacks style and dignity, though Geiger Cars refers to the
interior as having a cuddly interior ambiance. The inside of the 4x4
vehicle is decked out with red leather
and carpet from top to bottom, which ties in with the exterior colour
scheme, while walnut-burl accents top it off. As well as the red leather seating, there's also a number of features that create a sense of romance, according to Geiger Cars. The
rear compartment of the car has been visually expanded due to a
mirror on the rear wall, and as the images show, there's also an
electric fireplace with fake brick-work chimney, a fake bearskin rug,
plus an auxiliary backup heater. All these features combine to
help create the traditional Christmas atmosphere, as does the thumping
stereo. Geiger Cars has reason to believe that Santa Claus is a big
music enthusiast, hence the custom-made JBL sound system with
3,800 watts of eardrum melting goodness. As well as the
being an audiophile, Father Christmas also likes TV, according to the
German tuning group, so naturally a digital TV
receiver and DVD player transmit their images to three LCD
screens: one in the front
row, another in the rear and the third being a large 42-inch
widescreen monitor that lives in what used to be the boot. Also,
integrated thermos cans can provide non-alcoholic beverages to all who
approach, along with a heated
stainless-steel box to keep cookies warm. Geiger Cars said that
its Christmas Hummer H2 cost its tuning team about €110,000
(A$186,000) to build, and was given away as part of a raffle in
Germany. No plans are in place to build more of these vehicles, as much
of the paint work and the audio-visual systems were implemented by
third parties. Related articles: - Hummer H2 - Mindfreak Hummer H2
