Aichi, Japan - Lexus
has released details of its upgraded IS F high performance sedan – the
2011 model has added performance, technological and new design features.
The Lexus IS F's suspension has significantly tweaked,
changes have been made to the front coil spring rate and the shock
absorber damping force to improve overall comfort and stability.
Lexus has also adjusted rear suspension spring and
damper rates, along with the camber angle, suspension arm bush and
stabiliser bush characteristics.
These changes improve rear stability when
cornering, suppress suspension movement under hard acceleration or
deceleration, and further enhance ride comfort.
Inside, the new-look, LFA-inspired design of the
driver's instrument panel features a repositioned tachometer,
speedometer and shift indicator for better legibility.
The large, centrally positioned tachometer
incorporates an illuminated rev indicator that lights up at three stages
- 5,000 rpm, at 5,500 rpm and at 6,200-6,550 rpm, depending on the gear
step.
New Daytime Running Lamps (DRL), give the IS F's
exterior a more modern look while bringing it into line with the rest
of the IS range.
A new Starlight Black exterior colour, blacked-out
headlamp lenses and a new dark-metallic engine are also new to the 2011
Lexus IS F.
On board, the IS F also receives new dark
carbon-fibre centre-console inserts, and a new orange- and black-
leather seating option.
The revised driver's seat offers improved support,
while a revised steering wheel enhances grip and feel.
Lexus IS F is powered by a Euro 5-compliant,
5.0-litre V8 engine generating over 300 kW at 6,600 rpm and 500 Nm of
torque at 5,200 rpm.
The engine is mated to an 8-speed Sports Direct
Shift (SPDS) automatic transmission and is capable of accelerating IS F
from 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
The 2011 Lexus IS F is priced from $126,800
(manufacturer’s list price).
