Aprilia Futura gets more ponies

Aprilia motorcycle importer, John Sample Automotive, has
announced details of a modified Futura model available at
selected Aprilia dealers.
The dealer-kitted Futura S is based on the ground-breaking
Aprilia RST1000 but packs more performance and value into
an already competitive package.
The Futura S produces a significant 13 more horsepower
at 7000rpm and 10 extra horsepower at 8500rpm thanks to its
new dual Staintune mufflers and re-mapped ignition.
Weighing it at just 210kg (dry), the Futura S
boasts the best power to weight ratio in its class.
The Futura S has factory panniers fitted as standard
equipment.
The Aprilia Futura is arguably the best specified sports-tourer
on the market, and the addition of the Futura S
gives buyers the option of an even greater sporting orientation
in what is already a very capable bike, said David O'Reilly,
national manager for John Sample Automotive.
I believe that the increased mid-range and top-end
performance will enhance the Futuras capabilities in
both sports and touring situations.
The original design brief for Futura was to respond to the
requisites of a touring bike - comfort, protection, luggage
capacity - without compromising performance or the use of
cutting edge technology.
Futura utilises a race-orientated single-sided shell-shaped
alloy rear swingarm mated to a Sachs shock absorber.
The shock is externally adjustable for rebound damping and
spring preload and is mounted to a progressive linkage specifically
designed to cope with either a full-touring load or spirited
sports riding.
The RST1000 Futura adopts the highly successful platform
of the Aprilia RSV Mille sportsbike. The highly stylistic
fairing, complete with integrated mirrors/indicators, has
been wind tunnel tested in order to achieve the best balance
of rider protection, aerodynamics and downforce.
The Aprilia RST1000 Futura S is available exclusively
in silver and is priced at $19,998 plus on-road-costs.
