Maserati GranCabrio 2010

The canvas roof emphasises the link to Maseratis's tradition

Modena, Italy
–
Maserati has officially released images of
their first four-seater convertible, the GranCabrio.
The GranCabrio is essentially a convertible version of the GranTurismo
coupe - a first in the lush history of Maserati and will make its
world wide debut on September 15 at this years Frankfurt Motor Show.
With the introduction of the GranCabrio, Maserati's product line-up now
consists of three different families of models: Quattroporte,
GranTurismo and the new GranCabrio.
With its beautiful Pininfarina styling and a new canvas roof
(emphasises the link to Maserati's tradition) the GrandCabrio
provides pure open-air luxury and enjoyment, while not sacrificing
performance.
Maserati say, "The GranCabrio represents the very essence of Maserati
in terms of open-top cars. It's a Maserati in the purest sense of the
word: from the unmistakable style by Pininfarina to the spacious
interior, from the craftsmanship of each detail to the driving pleasure
and performance."
Featuring the longest wheelbase on the market, the GranCabrio should
offer plenty of legroom for rear passengers, but official
specifications are still not yet confirmed.
The GrandCabrio will come with a 323 kW (440 bhp) 4.7-litre V8 petrol
engine, the same seen in the GranTurismo S, while there is still
speculation over an entry-level 4.2-litre V8 with 302kW (405 bhp).
Maserati will start marketing the GranCabrio in Europe next winter,
with sales starting sometime in the third quarter of 2010 for Australia and
New Zealand.
