Moscow, Russia — Maserati has severely sharpened its image with a spiky new Maserati
Quattroporte. But don't try and drive it - or even open the door -
because this car is covered in broken glass. The Italian marque said
the stunning artwork was created by Luca Pancrazzi to represent Italy at the second
Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art exhibition. Maserati says it is the centre piece for Italian
design and art and demonstrates the style, elegance and vitality of
Italy. The
graceful, flowing lines of the Maserati Quattroporte are so
beautiful and appealing, explains the Italian sports car maker, that
they beg to have hands run down them - but
that if you did this you'd need to be hospitalised for severe
lacerations to the hands and fingers. It says that this is one
Quattroporte that no one would wish to run their hands
over. Dubbed the ‘Maseratirundum’ this
design is either a pointless waste of a brilliant Italian grand tourer,
or a brilliant work of art that pushes the boundaries of modern
aesthetic principles. According to Maserati, Luca
Pancrazzi is one of Europe's leading artists and his 'Maseratirundum'
design is a Quattroporte that is covered in
recycled, broken and fragmented glass that breaks up light and
reflections, shape and form. Pancrazzi said that the glass, which is
applied in a unique process he has created, reveals a realm of hidden
depths and archetypes of concealed worlds. Although the Maserati Quattroporte offers a unique level of
exclusivity with a range
of four million possible combinations from its standard palate of fine
leathers, cloths, stitching and carpets, it is unlikely that ‘Maseratirundum’ will ever
be available anywhere else other than in Europe’s leading
galleries. Related Articles: - Maserati GS Zagato (2007) - Maserati GranTurismo (2008) - Maserati
