Powered by a V10 mid-mount engine,
the MC1, if built, could be a contender

Cologne, Germany — With a design that it's creators hope will attract the eyes of Ferrari and Aston Martin buyers, German-based Motorcity Europe has unveiled a new super car, the MC1.

The super car has increased in popularity over the last decade as personal wealth has exploded, and a vehicle that can tear from zero to 100km/h in around 3.0 seconds is nothing new.

What sets the MC1 apart from most modern super cars however was the design time.

This V10-powered German super car was fully designed in under 90 days.

Motorcity Europe's director, Dave Hilton, wants to prove that cars don't need years of development, but can be developed in months.

He spoke to Car Body Design about the new MC1, saying "Initially I wanted to demonstrate that, in a short time, one designer can create and build a fresh design which is still possible for street development."

Some are suggesting this short turnaround time could this change the face of auto industry, but until the 'production possible' car finds a handful of keen buyers, is then built and on the road - expected by 2011 - we will not know.

Could it be successful?

Consensus around the Motoring Channel office has been mixed. Some staffers like the design, especially the stylised front end, and others think it stinks like three day old garbage that's been left in the sun.

Hilton says the vehicle will feature a mid-mounted V10 engine that will output around 447 kilowatts (600hp), and with a lightweight carbon fibre body shell it should be one of the faster super cars on the market with gut-wrenching acceleration.

It will ride on 20-inch front and wider 21-inch rear wheel rims, and is expected to reach around 320km/h (200mph).

The MC1 design also features Lamborghini-inspired vertical scissor doors, and measures just over 4.5 metres long, which is fairly short for a modern super car.
