Nissan's new mini SUV could set new new trends in the market with a low price and strong standard features

Sydney, Australia —
Nissan has set December as the date its new Dualis will reach
Australian showrooms. Billed as a Compact Crossover, Nissan says it
bridges the gap between small car hatchbacks and SUVs. Echoing
many of the stying cues of the Murano, the Dualis claims a tough and
compact look combined with performance, agility and comfort. Based
on a small 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 102kW and 198Nm
of torque with either a
six speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission
(CVT) with six-speed M-Mode, the Dualis offers good 4x4 capability with
good on road handling too. The smart M-Mode system has three modes, selected via a switch on the centre
console. In 2WD, the system is permanently set in front-wheel drive,
ideal for fine weather on-road use. When the Lock setting is engaged,
however, the system switches to permanent 4WD with
drive split 50:50 front to rear. With
a five-door body plan, the car has some coupe styling cues
with sportscar-inspired glass to accentuate its dual-role
design. The side profile with the small upswept triangular third window
recollects the style set by its bigger brother, the Murano.
The entry-level ST comes standard with dual front airbags, electric power steering, wheel-slip sensors, anti-lock
brakes, power windows and mirrors, in-dash single CD player, remote
central locking, cruise control and air conditioning and is priced from
$28,990 for the six-speed manual and $30,990 for the CVT equipped
model.
"The
Dualis combines the flexibility of a compact hatch with the
functionality of an SUV," says Nissan marketing general manager, Ross
Booth. "It offers great driving dynamics for around town and has
the versatility for outdoor pursuits too." |
