Yokohama,
Japan - Recent reports are circulating around the
internet that the Nissan GT-R brand will get a hybrid powertrain in
2012 as a 2013 model year.
According to sources, the vehicle would use the
same 324kW 3.7-litre twin turbo V6 petrol engine and 117kW battery
powered electric motor found in the Infiniti Essence Concept which made
its debut at this years Geneva Motor Show in March.
Combined, the two motors would give the 2013
Nissan GT-R Hybrid a massive 441kW, but because of the extra weight
brought on by these "green" technologies, the car would have to shed
some serious weight to account for the extra motor.
Even with a strict diet the 2013 Nissan GT-R
Hybrid would still be heavier than the 1,724kg (3,800 lbs) weight of
the current GT-R.
This hybrid system is expected to achieve between
10.6km and 12.7km per litre , yet still produce good results on the
track or from standing starts.
If Nissan does give the green light for the GT-R
Hybrid customers should expect to pay around $150,000AUD.
