 Nissan GT-R Spec V: Leaked
Is this proof of the new Nissan GT-R Spec V?
|
Tokyo, Japan — Nissan stunned the world late last year when it revealed the 353kW (473hp) twin turbo GT-R. The
Nissan GT-R has enough power to easily outpace a Ferrari F430 and an
AWD system that will give a Porsche 911 Turbo a run for its money. But
rumours have persisted that Nissan has been working on an even more
powerful version of the car, and a new leaked document has added fuel
to the fire. The leaked Nissan brochure contains a specification sheet showing what appears to be the new Spec V version of the Nissan GT-R. It states that the Spec V GT-R will output almost 30kW more power, taking the peak output from 353kW to 382kW (512hp). Not
only would this boost in power improve the vehicle's already rapid
acceleration, but the GT-R Spec V is expected to be at least 100kg
lighter (1640kg vs 1740kg of the standard version). Much of the
weight loss is likely to be attributed to removing luxury features,
making use of carbon fibre body panels, and using lightweight alloy
wheels. These weight reducing changes combined with an increase
in engine power could bring the zero to 100km/h sprint time down
to around 3.1 seconds, which would make it one of the fastest mass
produced production cars in the world. While expensive, this new
model could be very popular as Nissan has gone to great lengths to make
it difficult for tuners to modify the new GT-R, with an ECU (engine
control unit) that is reportedly very difficult to access via
traditional means (laptop etc). As well as the increase in power
- believed to be from higher turbo boost levels - and reduction in
overall weight, Nissan's chassis engineers are also believed to have
developed a new version of the ATTESA 4WD system. The
advanced ATTESA-ETS system will augment a stiffer body shell that
appears to include a quasi roll cage, with interior reinforcements
clearly visible in the back seat. Nissan's GT-R Spec V is expected to be shown in full production form later in 2008 and sold as a 2009 model. The GT-R Spec V will also be one of the most expensive Nissan's ever built. Related
