Peugeot treads a fine line between designing cars
that are suitably different, but still highly desirable

The Frankfurt Motor Show makes its presence felt every year in September as automaker's from around the world attend what is one of Europe's - and the world's - biggest auto shows by using it as a launching pad for best and brightest new models.

Among the cars that have been launched at the 2005 event is the new Peugeot 407 Coupé, which has been given a number of styling changes over its 4-door cousin.

The Peugeot brand has been associated with some great coupés over the years that have today become true classics around the world - cars like the 404, 504 and 406 coupés have become icons of their time - and the new 407 Coupé is expected to repeat the success of its predecessors.

The stunning new Peugeot 407 Coupé takes to the stage and will carry on that tradition of exclusive style and elegance.

The details released thus far show that two models will be offered in Australia when it launched here in early 2006 - one petrol and one diesel.

Both engines are V6s, with the petrol model a 155kW, 290Nm 3.0-litre V6, similar to the engine found in the 407 sedan. The diesel option is a slightly smaller 2.7-litre turbocharged mill that develops a hefty 150kW of power and 440Nm of torque.

6-speed gearboxes will be the norm for the 407 Coupé, either manual or automatic, and double wishbone front suspension with integral multi-arm rear suspension will result in optimal driving pleasure, according to Peugeot. High levels of standard equipment will also make the cut: front and rear parking assist, ‘directional headlights’, auto wipers and headlights plus digital climate control with hygrometer are just a few of them.

The smooth and stylish French coupe will be making its Australian premiere at the Australian International Motorshow in Sydney in October 2005.
