Sydney, Australia —
Peugeot has flagged its intention to take a significant part of the
premium small car market with the launch of the spanking new 308, hard
on the heels of the BMW 1 Series, Toyota Corolla and Ford Focus. Peugeot
say the 308 will build on the strengths of its predecessor, the
triple-million selling 307, and will be available
in both hatch and Touring models, with a choice of petrol and diesel
engines. The launch was part of the Peugeot worldwide roll out, coming
just over a month after the car's global debut at the Frankfurt
Motorshow. It
is six years since the 307 hit the showrooms, and the new model will up
the ante on its predecessor's solid record when it arrives in Australia
next February. With the distinctive family Peugeot styling, a 5 star ENCAP safety rating, a well finished
cabin with high quality fittings and features, outstanding levels of standard
equipment and competitive pricing, the 308 is set to be an important
part of Peugeot’s market strategy in 2008. Full pricing and details will be released closer to the launch date of the car.
