Paris, France — Renault's new go-fast compact car, the Twingo RenaultSport (RS), will makes it debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. The
tiny French car rivals vehicles such as the Toyota Yaris, but is
one of the first purpose built sub-compact cars with attitude. Toyota has yet to release a 'true' performance version of the Yaris with more power. This tiny little performance car takes much of its inspiration from the super cool Twingo Concept, first seen at the Paris Motor Show in 2006. As
well as a bold new look, featuring larger wheels, pumped wheel arches
and a aggressive front apron with stylised fog light nacelles, the new
Twingo RS will be powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine. This
performance engine will output 99kW (133hp) which should be enough
power to propel the ultra-light Twingo RS to 100km/h from rest in
around 8 seconds. As well as the engine and body kit upgrades, the Twingo RS will benefit from sportier suspension and stronger brakes. One of the reasons we're interested in this new sub-compact car here at the Motoring Channel is because our road tests on the Renault Sport Mégane
225 and Renault
Sport Clio 182 Cup showed both vehicles to be some of the best in their respective classes. The
Renault Twingo is one of the smallest cars in the French automaker's
range, slotting in underneath the Clio and Megane small cars. Related
