STI Subaru Forester tS : First Look

Gunma, Japan - Subaru has announced that it will offer a STI tuned Forester to its Japanese domestic market (JDM).

The STI Subaru Forester tS is reported to be powered by a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo engine that develops 193kW at 6000 and 347Nm at 2800 – 4800rpm. The Forester tS needs the extra torque because the vehicle weighs in around 1810kg’s, so it isn’t the lightest SUV on the market.

Judging by the photos the STI Subaru Forester tS features a new aerodynamics package, including new front and rear bumpers, front grille, side skirts, a rear roof spoiler and a rear diffuser. The Subaru Forester tS sits on new alloys wheels and comes with a new exhaust system with two tailpipes, left and right.

For handling piece of mind the Forester tS gets STi tuned dampers and springs (front and rear) plus the body bracing consisting of flexible draw bracing, flexible tower bar and flexible front and rear stiffeners.

Stepping inside the car the interior features a STi red stitch leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, Alcantara inserts, a special door trim, leather and Alcantara sport seats (STi badged), drilled aluminium pedals and a carbon fibre centre console cover.

Subaru will offer the car in 4 colors; Obsidian Black, Pearl White, Stylish Silver and WR Blue Mica.

The Subaru Forester tS will be priced from 3,450,000 yen ($43,433AUD) and only 300 units will be available. Subaru hasn't made any plans of releasing the STI Subaru Forester tS on other markets.
