Sydney, Australia — Subaru
has promised to start shipments of its highly acclaimed Tribeca medium
SUV by year's end. Building on the reputation of its WRC-based Impreza,
the company will launch the Tribeca with its biggest ever, 3.6 litre,
6-cylinder boxer engine in the standard AWD Subaru layout. As
Nick Senior, Managing Director, Subaru Australia, notes, this marks the
start of a major revamp of the entire Subaru range, starting
with the Tribeca. "We recently started on the greatest ever change in
our product line-up. In two years time, our entire range will have
been
completely renewed," he says. The Tribeca will come with the latest 2008 model updates, including:
Subaru’s largest ever engine, a 3.6 litre, six-cylinder boxer Re-mapped SPORTSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission Revised rear suspension Revised access mechanism on second row seats Contemporary styling for the nose Improved tailgate and rear quarter panel design
Subaru
also showcased its Impreza World Rally Car (WRC) concept, based on
the recently launched new generation Impreza, and due to be driven next
season by Australia’s Chris Atkinson. The WRC concept provides
some clues to the styling of the new Impreza WRX STI, due on sale in
Australia in the first quarter of next year.
"As already
demonstrated by new Impreza, there will be a common theme in each of
our offerings: advanced driving technology, five-star safety,
value-for-money, style and premium Japanese build quality," says Senior.
