The new Swift has grown slightly in length

Suzuki SwiftHandling, improved fuel consumption and significantly lower emissions

Shizuoka, Japan - Suzuki has launched its new Swift, promising class-leading fuel economy, safety and driving dynamics.

The latest model Swift features new styling, impact safety, driving performance, handling, improved fuel consumption and significantly lower emissions.

Extensive use of higher strength steel makes the new bodyshell lighter and stiffer. This latest design has helped improve impact safety for pedestrians as well as occupants.

Increased track and larger diameter wheels with lower profile tyres allow for even better handling than pervious model Swifts.

The interior design now features black as its keynote colour with accents of silver throughout the car.

For even more space inside, Swift has grown slightly in length (+90mm) with a 50mm increase in wheelbase and 10mm increase in height.

Powering the new Suzuki range is an all-new 1.4-litre engine the produces 70kW of power and 130Nm of torque. Fuel efficiency was a key factor for Suzuki engineers, the new engine delivers the outstanding figures of just 5.5 litres per 100 km and produces 132 grams of C02 per km.

The engine is matched to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. The five-speed manual transmission has a new assist mechanism for reduced driver effort and an optimised shift-lever pattern for smooth changes.

Standard safety equipment includes Electronic Stability Program (ESP), seven airbags (front, side, curtain, and driver’s knee airbags), anti-lock braking system (ABS) and electronic braking-force distribution (EBD) with brake assist (BA).

Passive-safety features include a light, reinforced, energy-absorbing body in which front crumple zones help to absorb impact energy and direct it away from the cabin in line with Suzuki’s proprietary Total Effective Control Technology concept. Front seatbelts are also fitted with pre-tensioners and force limiters.

These safety features has earned the new Suzuki Swift a maximum five-star safety rating from ANCAP and Euro-NCAP.

The GA will come standard with the following features:
