 The Supra revival should
be in late
2011.

Tokyo,
Japan
– Styling
features of the Toyota Supra was originally derived from the
Toyota Celica, but it was both longer and wider.
The Supra also traces
much of its roots back to the Toyota 2000GT with the main feature
being its engine. The first three generations of the Supra model were
offered with a
direct descendant to the 2000GT's M engine. All four generations of
Supra produced have an inline 6-cylinder engine.
In 1999,
Toyota ceased sales of the Supra in the United States and in 2002
Toyota officially stopped production of the Supra in Japan.
A
lot of fans where disappointed when Toyota dropped the Supra from it's
line up. With rumors and anticipation surrounding Toyota's Supra
successor and the unveiling of the FT-HS Hybrid Sports Car Concept at
the North American International Auto Show in 2007, made fans confident
of a revival.
It sounds like Toyota’s Akio Toyoda is answering
every enthusiasts prayers because, according to reports, Toyota are
indicating that they are preparing to launch a Supra revival in late
2011.
While details are still limited, sources are
suggesting the rear-wheel drive sports car will have two engine options
- a traditional gas-powered model, fitted with a 3.5-liter V6, and a
hybrid "Sports" variant packing the GS450h's 2GR-VSE 3.5-liter V6 mated
to the JDM Crown Hybrid's electric drive system, pushing power outputs
to around 298kW (400 hp) to the rear wheels.
Rumors have it that
the Supra successor will have a starting price of around three to four
million yen and should make its debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show.
